Description

This best steak marinade is juicy, flavor-packed, and incredibly easy to make. A perfect balance of savory, tangy, and slightly sweet flavors, it tenderizes the meat while enhancing its natural richness for a restaurant-quality steak at home.

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, olive oil, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, and balsamic vinegar.
  2. Add brown sugar, minced garlic, black pepper, salt, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Whisk until fully combined.
  3. Place steak (about 2 pounds) in a large resealable bag or shallow dish.
  4. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it is evenly coated.
  5. Seal and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably 6–8 hours for maximum flavor.
  6. Remove steak from marinade and discard excess marinade.
  7. Grill or cook steak to desired doneness (about 4–5 minutes per side for medium-rare, depending on thickness).
  8. Let the steak rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For best results, marinate steaks at least 2 hours but no more than 24 hours.
  • Works well with ribeye, sirloin, flank, or New York strip steaks.
  • Bring steak to room temperature for 20–30 minutes before cooking.
  • Do not reuse marinade that has touched raw meat.
  • For a gluten-free option, substitute tamari for soy sauce.
