A flavorful Cajun shrimp boil tossed in a rich garlic butter sauce with corn, potatoes, and smoked sausage for the ultimate Southern feast.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds large shrimp, deveined, shells on
  • 1 pound baby red potatoes
  • 4 ears corn on the cob, cut into thirds
  • 12 ounces smoked sausage, sliced
  • 1 lemon, cut into wedges
  • 4 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons Old Bay seasoning
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick), melted
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Fill a large pot with water and bring to a boil. Add potatoes, bay leaves, Old Bay, and 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning. Cook for 10–12 minutes until potatoes are almost tender.
  2. Add corn and sausage to the pot. Cook for 5 minutes.
  3. Add shrimp and cook for 2–3 minutes until pink and opaque. Drain and transfer everything to a large bowl or tray.
  4. In a skillet, melt butter with olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic, remaining Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, cayenne, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
  5. Pour garlic butter sauce over the shrimp boil ingredients and toss well to coat.
  6. Squeeze fresh lemon over the top and garnish with parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Serve with crusty bread to soak up the garlic butter sauce.
  • You can substitute crab legs or crawfish for shrimp for variety.
