Description
Caramelized Brussels Sprouts Skewers are a delicious roasted side dish where Brussels sprouts are threaded onto skewers, coated with a sweet and savory glaze, and roasted until crispy and caramelized. Perfect for grilling or oven roasting.
Ingredients
- 1 lb Brussels sprouts, trimmed
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
- 1 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- Wooden or metal skewers
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) or prepare a grill over medium heat.
- If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 20 minutes to prevent burning.
- Trim the ends of the Brussels sprouts and remove any damaged outer leaves.
- Thread the Brussels sprouts onto skewers, packing them snugly but not too tightly.
- In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, balsamic vinegar, honey (or maple syrup), minced garlic, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.
- Brush the glaze generously over the Brussels sprouts skewers.
- Place skewers on a baking sheet or directly on the grill.
- Roast or grill for 20–25 minutes, turning halfway through, until the sprouts are tender and caramelized.
- Brush with remaining glaze during the last few minutes of cooking.
- Remove from heat, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese if desired, and serve warm.
Notes
- Cut very large Brussels sprouts in half so they cook evenly.
- Maple syrup can replace honey for a vegan-friendly version.
- For extra crispiness, broil the skewers for the last 2–3 minutes.
- These skewers pair well with grilled meats or vegetarian mains.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
