Description

Caramelized Brussels Sprouts Skewers are a delicious roasted side dish where Brussels sprouts are threaded onto skewers, coated with a sweet and savory glaze, and roasted until crispy and caramelized. Perfect for grilling or oven roasting.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Brussels sprouts, trimmed
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
  • 1 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Wooden or metal skewers

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) or prepare a grill over medium heat.
  2. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 20 minutes to prevent burning.
  3. Trim the ends of the Brussels sprouts and remove any damaged outer leaves.
  4. Thread the Brussels sprouts onto skewers, packing them snugly but not too tightly.
  5. In a bowl, whisk together olive oil, balsamic vinegar, honey (or maple syrup), minced garlic, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.
  6. Brush the glaze generously over the Brussels sprouts skewers.
  7. Place skewers on a baking sheet or directly on the grill.
  8. Roast or grill for 20–25 minutes, turning halfway through, until the sprouts are tender and caramelized.
  9. Brush with remaining glaze during the last few minutes of cooking.
  10. Remove from heat, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese if desired, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Cut very large Brussels sprouts in half so they cook evenly.
  • Maple syrup can replace honey for a vegan-friendly version.
  • For extra crispiness, broil the skewers for the last 2–3 minutes.
  • These skewers pair well with grilled meats or vegetarian mains.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
