Description

A rich and comforting seafood pie made with tender mixed seafood in a creamy cheddar bay–style sauce, topped with a flaky golden crust.


Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 cup cooked shrimp, chopped
  • 1 cup cooked crab meat or white fish
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 sheet pie crust or puff pastry
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C).
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
  3. Add the onion and sautΓ© until soft and translucent.
  4. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  5. Stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
  6. Gradually whisk in the milk and cook until the sauce thickens.
  7. Add cheddar cheese, Old Bay seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper; stir until smooth.
  8. Fold in the seafood and parsley, then remove from heat.
  9. Pour the mixture into a greased pie dish.
  10. Cover with pie crust, seal edges, and brush with beaten egg.
  11. Cut small slits on top to vent.
  12. Bake for 30–35 minutes until golden brown.
  13. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • You can use all shrimp or all fish if preferred.
  • Serve with a simple green salad for balance.
