Description
A hearty one-pan cheesy beef and rice skillet combining seasoned ground beef, tender rice, and melted cheese for a quick and satisfying comfort meal.
Ingredients
- 500g ground beef
- 1 cup uncooked white rice
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 can (400g) diced tomatoes, drained
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add onion and sauté until soft, about 3–4 minutes.
- Add garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in paprika, oregano, cumin, salt, and pepper.
- Add rice, diced tomatoes, and beef broth. Mix well.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 15–18 minutes until rice is tender.
- Sprinkle cheese over the top, cover, and let melt for 2–3 minutes.
- Garnish with parsley and serve hot.
Notes
- Swap white rice with brown rice, adjusting liquid and cooking time.
- Add vegetables like bell peppers or peas for extra nutrition.
- Use mozzarella or a cheese blend for variation.
- Spice it up with chili flakes or hot sauce.
