Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) chili (with or without beans)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 package (32 oz) frozen tater tots
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: sliced green onions, sour cream


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (205°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned.
  3. Add diced onion and garlic; sauté until softened.
  4. Season with chili powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  5. Stir in chili and simmer for 3–5 minutes.
  6. Spread beef and chili mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  7. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese over the mixture.
  8. Arrange tater tots evenly on top.
  9. Bake uncovered for 30 minutes.
  10. Remove from oven, sprinkle remaining cheese over the tots, and return to oven.
  11. Bake an additional 10–15 minutes until cheese is melted and tots are crispy.
  12. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
