Description
Soft and buttery Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Twists made with sweet cookie dough, rich chocolate chips, and baked into beautiful twisted pastries. Perfect for dessert, brunch, or a sweet snack.
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 sheet refrigerated puff pastry, thawed
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon coarse sugar (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in egg and vanilla extract until combined.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, then fold in chocolate chips to form cookie dough.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheet slightly and spread a thin layer of cookie dough evenly over half of the pastry.
- Fold the pastry over the dough, gently press, and cut into strips.
- Twist each strip several times and place on the prepared baking sheet.
- Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sugar if desired.
- Bake for 15–18 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Chill the cookie dough for 20 minutes if it becomes too soft to spread.
- Use mini chocolate chips for easier spreading and twisting.
- Drizzle with melted chocolate after baking for extra sweetness.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
