Description

Soft and buttery Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Twists made with sweet cookie dough, rich chocolate chips, and baked into beautiful twisted pastries. Perfect for dessert, brunch, or a sweet snack.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 sheet refrigerated puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon coarse sugar (optional, for topping)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in egg and vanilla extract until combined.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, then fold in chocolate chips to form cookie dough.
  6. Roll out the puff pastry sheet slightly and spread a thin layer of cookie dough evenly over half of the pastry.
  7. Fold the pastry over the dough, gently press, and cut into strips.
  8. Twist each strip several times and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sugar if desired.
  10. Bake for 15–18 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  11. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Chill the cookie dough for 20 minutes if it becomes too soft to spread.
  • Use mini chocolate chips for easier spreading and twisting.
