Description

A rich and comforting one-pan creamy garlic butter chicken and rice dish featuring tender chicken, fluffy rice, and a velvety garlic cream sauce—perfect for an easy family dinner.

Ingredients

  • 2 large chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup uncooked white rice
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add chicken pieces, season with salt, pepper, and paprika, and cook until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add remaining butter and sauté onion until soft, about 3–4 minutes.
  4. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Stir in uncooked rice and toast lightly for 1–2 minutes.
  6. Pour in chicken broth, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes until rice is tender.
  7. Stir in heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, and thyme, mixing until creamy and smooth.
  8. Return cooked chicken to the skillet and simmer for 3–4 minutes until heated through.
  9. Adjust seasoning, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use boneless thighs for juicier meat.
  • Do not overcook rice to keep it fluffy.
  • Add spinach or mushrooms for extra flavor.
  • For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream.
