Description

Extra crispy air fryer chicken wings that are juicy inside and perfectly golden outside, made with simple seasonings and no deep frying required.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs chicken wings (split into flats and drumettes)
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder (aluminum-free)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Cooking spray (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken wings completely dry with paper towels.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the wings with baking powder, salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and onion powder until evenly coated.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for 3–5 minutes.
  4. Arrange the wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving space between them.
  5. Cook for 25 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  6. Increase the temperature to 400°F (200°C) and cook for an additional 5–8 minutes until extra crispy.
  7. Remove from the air fryer and let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Toss with your favorite sauce if desired.

Notes

  • Make sure the wings are very dry before seasoning for maximum crispiness.
  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket; cook in batches if necessary.
  • Baking powder helps create a crispy texture—do not substitute with baking soda.
  • Internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).
  • Serve with ranch, blue cheese, or your favorite wing sauce.
