Description
Crispy Reuben Balls are bite-sized appetizers inspired by the classic Reuben sandwich, made with corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and seasonings, breaded and fried until golden and crunchy.
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450 g) cooked corned beef, finely chopped
- 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
- 3/4 cup sauerkraut, drained and finely chopped
- 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Optional: Thousand Island dressing for dipping
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine corned beef, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, cream cheese, garlic powder, and black pepper. Mix well.
- Form the mixture into small balls, about 1 tablespoon each.
- Set up a breading station with flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs.
- Roll each ball in flour, dip into egg, then coat with breadcrumbs.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 175°C (350°F).
- Fry the balls in batches for 2–3 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Serve hot with Thousand Island dressing if desired.
Notes
- Make sure sauerkraut is well-drained to avoid soggy balls.
- These can be baked or air-fried for a lighter option.
- Serve immediately for maximum crispiness.
