Description

A quick and flavorful Mediterranean-inspired dish featuring seasoned beef, fresh veggies, and tangy sauce, all stuffed into soft pita pockets for a delicious and healthy meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 pita pockets
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, diced
  • 1 cucumber, diced
  • 1/2 cup red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 cup tahini sauce or tzatziki sauce

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and garlic, cooking for 2-3 minutes until softened and fragrant.
  2. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Stir in the cumin, coriander, paprika, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Mix until the beef is well-seasoned and fragrant. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. To assemble, warm the pita pockets in the oven or microwave for a few seconds until soft.
  5. Stuff each pita pocket with the cooked beef mixture, then top with diced tomatoes, cucumber, red onion, feta cheese, and parsley.
  6. Drizzle with tahini sauce or tzatziki sauce, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • If you prefer a spicier version, you can add a pinch of chili flakes or drizzle with hot sauce.
  • This recipe can be easily adapted to a lamb or chicken version if you prefer a different protein.
  • Feel free to add extra veggies like lettuce, olives, or bell peppers for more crunch and flavor.
