Description
A decadent fusion of Philly cheesesteak and garlic bread, featuring tender shaved steak, melty cheese, sautéed peppers and onions, all piled onto buttery garlic bread and baked until golden.
Ingredients
- 1 large French bread loaf, sliced in half lengthwise
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 lb shaved ribeye steak
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Mix softened butter, minced garlic, and parsley in a small bowl. Spread evenly over the cut sides of the French bread.
- Place bread on the baking sheet and bake for 5–7 minutes until lightly toasted.
- While the bread toasts, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onions and bell peppers and sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add shaved steak to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
- Season with Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine and remove from heat.
- Remove toasted bread from the oven and evenly layer the steak and veggie mixture over both halves.
- Top with provolone and mozzarella cheeses.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Cool slightly, slice, and serve warm.
Notes
- Add banana peppers or jalapeños for heat.
- Use Cheez Whiz for a more authentic Philly flavor.
- To make ahead, prep the garlic bread and steak mixture separately and assemble before baking.
