Description

A decadent fusion of Philly cheesesteak and garlic bread, featuring tender shaved steak, melty cheese, sautéed peppers and onions, all piled onto buttery garlic bread and baked until golden.

Ingredients

  • 1 large French bread loaf, sliced in half lengthwise
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 lb shaved ribeye steak
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix softened butter, minced garlic, and parsley in a small bowl. Spread evenly over the cut sides of the French bread.
  3. Place bread on the baking sheet and bake for 5–7 minutes until lightly toasted.
  4. While the bread toasts, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onions and bell peppers and sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
  5. Add shaved steak to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  6. Season with Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine and remove from heat.
  7. Remove toasted bread from the oven and evenly layer the steak and veggie mixture over both halves.
  8. Top with provolone and mozzarella cheeses.
  9. Bake for 10–12 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Cool slightly, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Add banana peppers or jalapeños for heat.
  • Use Cheez Whiz for a more authentic Philly flavor.
  • To make ahead, prep the garlic bread and steak mixture separately and assemble before baking.
