Description
A fun and hearty twist on classic lasagna, featuring tender lasagna noodles rolled up with juicy meatballs, ricotta, marinara sauce, and melted cheese.
Ingredients
- 12 lasagna noodles
- 1 lb (450 g) cooked meatballs, sliced
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (divided)
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
- Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and lay flat.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and half of the mozzarella.
- Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of the baking dish.
- Spread ricotta mixture evenly over each lasagna noodle.
- Place sliced meatballs along each noodle.
- Carefully roll up each noodle and place seam-side down in the baking dish.
- Spoon remaining marinara sauce over the roll-ups.
- Top with remaining mozzarella cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Uncover and bake for an additional 10–15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with parsley before serving.
Notes
- You can use homemade or store-bought meatballs.
- Let roll-ups rest for 5 minutes before serving.
- These freeze well for make-ahead meals.
