Description
A rich, indulgent Italian-style lasagna layered with savory meat sauce, creamy cheese filling, and gooey melted mozzarella—often called ‘Million Dollar’ for its luxurious taste.
Ingredients
- 12 lasagna noodles
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 lb Italian sausage
- 1 small onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 24 oz marinara sauce
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 cup cottage cheese
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 egg
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- Olive oil for cooking
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and cook until softened.
- Add ground beef and Italian sausage; cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in garlic, marinara sauce, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix ricotta, cottage cheese, cream cheese, sour cream, egg, parsley, and half of the Parmesan until smooth.
- Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in a baking dish.
- Layer noodles, cheese mixture, meat sauce, and mozzarella. Repeat layers.
- Finish with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Let rest 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Letting the lasagna rest helps it set for cleaner slices.
- You can substitute ground turkey for a lighter version.
- Freezes well for up to 2 months.
