Description

A rich, indulgent Italian-style lasagna layered with savory meat sauce, creamy cheese filling, and gooey melted mozzarella—often called ‘Million Dollar’ for its luxurious taste.

Ingredients

  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb Italian sausage
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • Olive oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and cook until softened.
  4. Add ground beef and Italian sausage; cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  5. Stir in garlic, marinara sauce, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  6. In a bowl, mix ricotta, cottage cheese, cream cheese, sour cream, egg, parsley, and half of the Parmesan until smooth.
  7. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in a baking dish.
  8. Layer noodles, cheese mixture, meat sauce, and mozzarella. Repeat layers.
  9. Finish with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan on top.
  10. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  11. Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  12. Let rest 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Letting the lasagna rest helps it set for cleaner slices.
  • You can substitute ground turkey for a lighter version.
  • Freezes well for up to 2 months.
