Description
North Pole Maple Glazed Ham is a beautifully roasted holiday ham coated in a sweet, sticky maple glaze with warm spices, perfect for Christmas feasts and festive gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 fully cooked bone-in ham (8–10 lbs)
- 1 cup pure maple syrup
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Whole cloves (optional for studding)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C). Line a roasting pan with foil for easy cleanup.
- Score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern and stud with whole cloves if desired.
- Place the ham cut-side down in the roasting pan and cover loosely with foil.
- Bake for 1 hour.
- Meanwhile, make the glaze: In a small saucepan, combine maple syrup, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, cloves, and black pepper. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Remove the ham from the oven and brush generously with the maple glaze.
- Return the ham to the oven, uncovered, and continue baking for 30–45 minutes, basting every 10–15 minutes until glossy and caramelized.
- Let rest 10–15 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, pour 1 cup of apple juice into the bottom of the pan while roasting.
- Reserve some glaze to drizzle over slices when serving.
- A spiral-cut ham works well and absorbs glaze easily.
- Leftovers are excellent in sandwiches or breakfast hash.
