Description

Potato Pancakes with Savory Beef and Cheese is a hearty and comforting dish featuring crispy golden potato pancakes topped with seasoned ground beef and melted cheese for a rich, satisfying meal.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and grated
  • 1 small onion, grated
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 300 g ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place grated potatoes in a clean towel and squeeze out excess moisture.
  2. In a bowl, mix potatoes, onion, eggs, flour, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Scoop portions of the mixture and flatten into pancakes. Fry until golden and crispy on both sides, then set aside.
  4. In another pan, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Add garlic, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper, and cook for 2 minutes.
  5. Stir in tomato sauce and simmer for 5 minutes until thickened.
  6. Place potato pancakes on a baking tray, top each with beef mixture and shredded cheese.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 8–10 minutes or until cheese is melted.
  8. Garnish with parsley if desired and serve warm.

Notes

  • Squeeze potatoes well to achieve crispy pancakes.
  • You can add chili flakes for extra heat.
  • Substitute beef with ground chicken or turkey if preferred.
  • Serve with sour cream or yogurt on the side for added flavor.
