Ingredients
- 4 medium potatoes, peeled and grated
- 1 small onion, grated
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil (for frying)
- 300 g ground beef
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Place grated potatoes in a clean towel and squeeze out excess moisture.
- In a bowl, mix potatoes, onion, eggs, flour, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Scoop portions of the mixture and flatten into pancakes. Fry until golden and crispy on both sides, then set aside.
- In another pan, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Add garlic, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper, and cook for 2 minutes.
- Stir in tomato sauce and simmer for 5 minutes until thickened.
- Place potato pancakes on a baking tray, top each with beef mixture and shredded cheese.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 8–10 minutes or until cheese is melted.
- Garnish with parsley if desired and serve warm.
Notes
- Squeeze potatoes well to achieve crispy pancakes.
- You can add chili flakes for extra heat.
- Substitute beef with ground chicken or turkey if preferred.
- Serve with sour cream or yogurt on the side for added flavor.
