Description

Tender shredded chicken cooked in a rich, savory gravy right in the slow cooker. A comforting, hearty meal perfect for serving over mashed potatoes, rice, or biscuits.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 2 packets (0.87 oz each) chicken gravy mix
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • 2 tbsp cold water (optional, for cornstarch slurry)

Instructions

  1. Place chicken breasts in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together chicken broth, gravy mix, cream of chicken soup, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and thyme.
  3. Pour mixture over the chicken in the slow cooker.
  4. Cover and cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours, until chicken is tender.
  5. Shred chicken with two forks directly in the slow cooker and stir to combine with gravy.
  6. If thicker gravy is desired, whisk cornstarch and cold water into a slurry, stir into the slow cooker, and cook an additional 15 minutes.
  7. Serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, or biscuits.
