Description
Tender shredded chicken cooked in a rich, savory gravy right in the slow cooker. A comforting, hearty meal perfect for serving over mashed potatoes, rice, or biscuits.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts (or thighs)
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 2 packets (0.87 oz each) chicken gravy mix
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp dried thyme
- 2 tbsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
- 2 tbsp cold water (optional, for cornstarch slurry)
Instructions
- Place chicken breasts in the bottom of the slow cooker.
- In a bowl, whisk together chicken broth, gravy mix, cream of chicken soup, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and thyme.
- Pour mixture over the chicken in the slow cooker.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours, until chicken is tender.
- Shred chicken with two forks directly in the slow cooker and stir to combine with gravy.
- If thicker gravy is desired, whisk cornstarch and cold water into a slurry, stir into the slow cooker, and cook an additional 15 minutes.
- Serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, or biscuits.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add sliced mushrooms or onions before cooking.
- Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen for 2 months.
