Swiss Mushroom Melt Delight is a savory sandwich featuring juicy seasoned beef patties topped with sautéed mushrooms, melted Swiss cheese, and toasted buttery bread for a rich and comforting meal.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 cups sliced mushrooms
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 4 slices rye or sourdough bread
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise (optional)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Form into 2 equal patties.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook patties for 4–5 minutes per side until fully cooked. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add olive oil and sauté mushrooms and onions until soft and golden, about 5–7 minutes.
- Return patties to the skillet and top each with sautéed mushrooms and onions.
- Place Swiss cheese slices over the mushroom mixture and cover the skillet briefly to melt the cheese.
- Butter one side of each bread slice. Place bread butter-side down on a clean skillet or griddle.
- Add the cheesy mushroom beef patties on top, spread mayonnaise if desired, and close with another slice of bread (butter-side up).
- Grill each sandwich for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
- Slice and serve warm.

- Substitute ground turkey for a lighter option.
- Add caramelized onions for extra sweetness and depth of flavor.
