Description

The Best Mac & Cheese on Earth is an ultra-creamy, cheese-packed comfort dish featuring a velvety sauce, perfectly cooked pasta, and a golden, crunchy topping that makes every bite unforgettable.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz elbow macaroni
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder (optional)
  • Topping:
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook macaroni according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large pot, melt butter over medium heat. Add flour and whisk for 1 minute to form a roux.
  4. Slowly whisk in milk until smooth. Cook 4–6 minutes until sauce thickens.
  5. Stir in cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan until melted and creamy.
  6. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and mustard powder.
  7. Add cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and mix until fully coated.
  8. Pour mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  9. Combine breadcrumbs and melted butter, then sprinkle evenly over the top.
  10. Bake for 20–25 minutes until bubbling and golden brown.
  11. Let rest 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use freshly grated cheese for the smoothest melt—pre-shredded cheese may clump.
  • For extra creaminess, add 1/2 cup heavy cream to the sauce.
  • Mix in cooked bacon, jalapeños, or lobster for a fun twist.
  • Broil the top for 1–2 minutes for extra crispiness.
