Description

Cheesy Lobster Potato Casserole is a luxurious baked dish featuring tender lobster meat, creamy potatoes, rich cheese sauce, and a golden bubbly topping. Perfect for holidays, special occasions, or an indulgent family dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs russet or Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 lb cooked lobster meat, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon chives, finely sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  3. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Gradually whisk in milk and heavy cream until smooth.
  6. Add salt, black pepper, paprika, and cayenne pepper.
  7. Cook until slightly thickened, about 4-5 minutes.
  8. Stir in cheddar, Gruyère, and half of the Parmesan cheese until melted.
  9. Arrange half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish.
  10. Top with half of the lobster meat and one-third of the cheese sauce.
  11. Repeat layers with remaining potatoes, lobster, and sauce.
  12. Sprinkle the remaining Parmesan cheese over the top.
  13. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  14. Remove foil and bake an additional 20-25 minutes until golden and potatoes are tender.
  15. Rest for 10 minutes before serving.
  16. Garnish with parsley and chives.

Notes

  • Yukon Gold potatoes provide a creamier texture than russet potatoes.
  • Fresh lobster offers the best flavor, but quality frozen lobster can be used.
  • Gruyère adds a rich nutty flavor that pairs beautifully with lobster.
  • Allow the casserole to rest before serving for cleaner slices.
  • Store leftovers refrigerated for up to 3 days.
