Description

Cherry Vanilla Sweet Cream Biscuits are soft, flaky biscuits infused with sweet cream and vanilla, studded with juicy cherries, and topped with a delicate vanilla glaze. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert, these bakery-style biscuits are rich, tender, and bursting with fruity flavor.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen cherries, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon flour (for coating cherries)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk or cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar.
  3. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine heavy cream and vanilla extract.
  5. Coat the chopped cherries with 1 tablespoon flour.
  6. Pour the cream mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  7. Gently fold in the cherries.
  8. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and pat into a 1-inch-thick rectangle.
  9. Cut into 8 biscuits using a biscuit cutter or sharp knife.
  10. Place biscuits on the prepared baking sheet.
  11. Bake for 14-16 minutes until lightly golden.
  12. Allow biscuits to cool for 10 minutes.
  13. Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to make the glaze.
  14. Drizzle glaze over the warm biscuits and serve.

Notes

  • Keep the butter cold for the flakiest biscuit texture.
  • Frozen cherries can be used directly from the freezer without thawing.
  • A touch of almond extract pairs beautifully with cherries.
  • Best enjoyed the day they are baked.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
