Description

Cherry Vanilla Sweet Cream Biscuits are tender, buttery biscuits filled with juicy cherries and flavored with sweet vanilla cream. Finished with a delicate vanilla glaze, they make a perfect breakfast treat, brunch pastry, or dessert.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen cherries, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon flour (for coating cherries)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together heavy cream, egg, and vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  6. Toss chopped cherries with 1 tablespoon flour and gently fold into the dough.
  7. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and pat into a 1-inch-thick rectangle.
  8. Cut into 8 biscuits using a biscuit cutter or knife.
  9. Place biscuits on the prepared baking sheet.
  10. Bake for 14-16 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Cool slightly on a wire rack.
  12. Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to make the glaze.
  13. Drizzle glaze over the warm biscuits.
  14. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Keep the butter cold for the flakiest biscuits.
  • If using frozen cherries, do not thaw before adding.
  • Almond extract can be added for extra flavor.
  • Best enjoyed the day they are baked.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
