Description

Crispy Garlic Bread Meatball Skillet is a hearty one-pan comfort meal featuring juicy homemade halal beef meatballs baked in rich marinara sauce with toasted garlic bread cubes and plenty of melted mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. This pizza-inspired skillet is perfect for family dinners, game days, or entertaining.

Ingredients

  • For the Meatballs:
  • 1 1/2 lbs halal ground beef
  • 1/2 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • For the Garlic Bread:
  • 1 small French baguette, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • For the Skillet:
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil or parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Parmesan, garlic, Italian seasoning, onion powder, salt, pepper, and parsley. Mix gently until just combined.
  3. Shape the mixture into 20-24 meatballs.
  4. Heat the olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat and brown the meatballs on all sides for 6-8 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  5. In a bowl, toss the bread cubes with the melted butter, garlic, and parsley until evenly coated.
  6. Spread the marinara sauce into the skillet and return the meatballs to the sauce.
  7. Scatter the garlic bread cubes around and between the meatballs.
  8. Sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses evenly over the top.
  9. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the meatballs reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C) and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Broil for 2-3 minutes for an extra golden, crispy cheese topping if desired.
  11. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use day-old French bread for crispier garlic bread cubes.
  • Avoid overmixing the meatball mixture to keep the meatballs tender.
  • Freshly shredded mozzarella melts more smoothly than pre-shredded cheese.
  • Add sautéed mushrooms or bell peppers for extra flavor.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
