Description

Honey Mustard Chicken Tater Bake is a comforting casserole featuring tender chicken, crispy tater tots, a creamy honey mustard sauce, smoky beef bacon, and plenty of melted cheddar cheese. This easy family-friendly bake is perfect for busy weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts, cooked and diced
  • 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
  • 8 slices halal beef bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 green onions, sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together sour cream, mayonnaise, honey, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Add the diced chicken and half of the beef bacon to the sauce, stirring until evenly coated.
  4. Spread the chicken mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  5. Sprinkle half of the cheddar and mozzarella cheeses over the chicken.
  6. Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer on top.
  7. Bake for 35 minutes until the tater tots are golden and crispy.
  8. Remove from the oven and sprinkle the remaining cheeses and beef bacon over the casserole.
  9. Return to the oven for 8-10 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  11. Garnish with parsley and sliced green onions.

Notes

  • Rotisserie chicken is a great shortcut for this recipe.
  • Use sharp cheddar for a richer flavor.
  • Add broccoli or corn for extra vegetables.
  • For extra-crispy tater tots, bake them separately for 10 minutes before assembling.
  • Store leftovers refrigerated for up to 4 days.
