Description

Orange Creamsicle Breakfast Rolls are soft, fluffy sweet rolls swirled with orange sugar filling and topped with a creamy vanilla-orange frosting. Inspired by the classic creamsicle flavor, these rolls are bright, citrusy, and perfect for breakfast, brunch, or dessert.

Ingredients

  • 1 can (16 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough or sweet roll dough
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 2 tablespoons fresh orange juice
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice (for frosting)
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest (for frosting)
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter for brushing

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.
  2. Roll out the dough into a rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
  3. Spread softened butter evenly over the dough.
  4. In a small bowl, combine granulated sugar and orange zest.
  5. Sprinkle the orange sugar mixture evenly over the buttered dough.
  6. Drizzle orange juice over the filling.
  7. Roll the dough tightly into a log.
  8. Slice into 8 equal rolls and place in the prepared baking dish.
  9. Brush tops lightly with melted butter.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  11. Allow rolls to cool for 10 minutes.
  12. Beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, orange juice, and orange zest until smooth.
  13. Spread the frosting over the warm rolls.
  14. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Fresh orange zest provides the best creamsicle flavor.
  • For a richer version, use homemade sweet roll dough.
  • Add white chocolate chips to the filling for extra sweetness.
  • The rolls are best served slightly warm.
  • Store leftovers refrigerated for up to 3 days.
