Description

Parmesan Pretzel Chicken Bake is a crispy, cheesy comfort dish featuring tender chicken coated in a crunchy pretzel-Parmesan topping and baked until golden. With a creamy seasoned base and savory crust, this easy casserole-style meal is perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into pieces
  • 2 cups crushed pretzels
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Season chicken pieces with salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. In a bowl, combine sour cream, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, mozzarella cheese, and half of the Parmesan cheese.
  4. Mix the chicken into the creamy sauce until fully coated.
  5. Spread the chicken mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  6. In another bowl, combine crushed pretzels, remaining Parmesan cheese, and melted butter.
  7. Sprinkle the pretzel mixture evenly over the chicken.
  8. Bake uncovered for 35-40 minutes until the topping is golden and the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C).
  9. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  10. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • Crush pretzels into small pieces but avoid turning them completely into crumbs for the best crunch.
  • Freshly grated Parmesan gives the topping a stronger flavor.
  • Add a little honey mustard drizzle for a sweet-savory variation.
  • Serve with roasted vegetables, rice, or mashed potatoes.
  • Store leftovers refrigerated for up to 3 days.
