- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 1 cup warm whole milk (110°F/43°C)
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- For the Filling:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 3/4 cup strawberry preserves or strawberry jam
- 1 cup finely diced fresh strawberries, patted dry
- For the Cream Cheese Frosting:
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2-3 tablespoons whole milk, as needed
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, yeast, and 1 tablespoon of the sugar. Let stand for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Add the remaining sugar, melted butter, egg, and salt. Mix well.
- Gradually add the flour and knead for 8-10 minutes until a smooth, elastic dough forms.
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 to 1½ hours, or until doubled in size.
- Roll the dough into a 16×12-inch rectangle.
- Spread the softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle evenly with the brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Spread the strawberry preserves over the cinnamon layer and scatter the diced strawberries evenly on top.
- Roll the dough tightly from the long side into a log and cut into 12 equal rolls.
- Arrange the rolls in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, cover, and let rise for 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and cooked through.
- Beat together the cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk until smooth and fluffy.
- Spread the frosting over the warm cinnamon rolls and serve.
Notes
- Pat the diced strawberries dry to prevent excess moisture in the filling.
- Use high-quality strawberry preserves for the best flavor.
- Pour 1/4 cup heavy cream over the rolls before baking for extra soft and gooey cinnamon rolls.
- Serve warm for the best texture and flavor.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
